1. Why visit vs°?

To discuss and investigate things together in the forum. Primarily on OSE Open Source Economics
and King's Clothes End Software Patents issues.
A place to connect with like minded and not so like minded people, sharing common goals.

OSE { economics }

1. What is OSE?

Open Source Economics or simply OSE became a necessity for me to create, when I saw the donation page for the open source ReactOS project. I felt that something was missing that things wasn't as perfect as I would have liked it.
OSE is a different way of thinking and a different way of doing things, when it comes to managing other peoples money. It all boils down to making the relationship between the giver and the taker better.
To accomplish that the taker needs to gain the giver's trust, to gain trust there needs to be more transparency with the taker's economics!
OSE is primarily intended for open source projects and existing aid organizations.

2. Why is OSE important?

The phrase "no taxation without representation" deals with issues regarding forced taxes combined with lack of freedom for democratic opinions, on how those forced taxes will be spent by the taker.
This phrase might not have a direct relation with how open source projects and aid organizations operate.
But there is a lesson you can learn from that phrase and implement on open source projects and aid organizations.

The lesson says that the more you involve the giver the more trust you will gain. The more trust you gain the more monetary donations you will recieve. Thus the need for more transparency with how you spend your donations as an open source project or aid organization. That is what OSE stands for and that is why it's important, trust!

3. What can I do to help out?

If you have useful information or ideas you want to play with, then let us share notes and ideas. Every little piece of information or idea counts in the big picture. But you have to start collecting those small pieces of ideas somewhere before you can put things together.
Through discussions the next move will magically make itself apparent. The open source work process , this is basically how I want every participant to function in the forum.

King's Clothes { software patents }

1. What is King's Clothes?

The King's Clothes project is my attempt at compressing and simplifying as much information as possible from EndSoftwarePatents.org into a one page flyer. The goal is to reach out to a wider audience by explaining a complex issue in a simple way.
I realize that it's not possible to include every single detail into a one page flyer, so I've decided to run with the Software is math angle. From this list of ESP arguments.

I have a strategy I want to test but I need people to discuss and share notes with. In order to see the next step and the step after that and so on and so forth...

2. Why is King's Clothes important?

Since I am running with the Software is math angle. I will try to explain things around this context and hopefully do it with as little holes as possible in my arguments.

Imagine that you're a mathematician and somebody else has discovered a way to solve a specific type of math problem. Imagine that everytime you wanted to use that math solution in your own mathematical theories you would have to pay royalty to some big company, everytime that math solution is implemented.

Or the most likely scenario would be to work around it by using a similar looking math solution which isn't as efficient as the original math solution.
But if it's similar looking then that's enough for the big company to sue the not so rich mathematician.
Which will likely result in the mathematician abandoning the mathematical theory, end of competition for the big company. If the history of math would've worked like this then there wouldn't be as many mathematical ideas and theories today, don't you agree?

Now imagine that you're a programmer instead. Somebody else has discovered a way to solve a sorting problem, the solution takes information and sorts them in a specific way. Imagine that everytime you wanted to use that software solution in your own software/program/application/app you would have to pay royalty to some big company, everytime that software solution is implemented.

Or the most likely scenario would be to work around it by using a similar looking software solution which isn't as efficient as the original software solution that sorts data in a specific way.
But if it's similar looking then that's enough for the big company to sue the not so rich programmer.
Which will likely result in the programmer abandoning the software project, end of competition for the big company. If the history of software would've worked like this then there wouldn't be as many software ideas and theories like in the history of math, don't you agree?

So why is King's Clothes project important? To enable the same kind of growth engine and freedom for programmers as mathematicians has enjoyed for centuries.
